How to play 30 SEGUNDOS
Full rules, scoring and a step-by-step example.
1. Goal
The first team to reach the FINISH square wins. The board has 35 squares (from START to FINISH), alternating blue and yellow. Every pawn starts on START, which is blue.
2. Setting up
- The host creates the room: 2 to 4 teams with 2 to 4 players each (up to 16 people). Team colours are random.
- The host also picks the card language (English or Portuguese). Open worldwide rooms show this language and the creator's country flag.
- Invite friends on WhatsApp (button in the room) or share the code, for example MZ-4K7P.
- Talking happens outside the app, on a voice or video call (WhatsApp, Google Meet…). The host can attach the call link to the room.
- The host chooses whether the answer has to be exact or approximate. Agree on this before starting.
- Each team needs at least 2 players. The starting team is random and the team order stays the same until the end.
3. The turn
- A member of the team taking its turn taps Start turn. The card flips and the 30-second timer starts by itself.
- One player on the team is the narrator. The narrator changes every turn so everyone gets to describe and to guess.
- The narrator describes the names on the card in any order. They may speak, sing, hum and gesture.
- They cannot say the name or any part of it. Teammates guess on the call.
- The turn ends when time runs out, on a fault, or when there are no free words left on the side of the card in view.
Passing the narration
A teammate can tap Narrator to ask for the turn (one request at a time). The current narrator taps Pass and the narration moves over. Anyone who has seen the card and passed is “burned”: they cannot speak any more that turn or ask again. The timer does not stop. If the narrator loses connection, the narration passes to another teammate automatically.
4. The card and who sees it
Each card has two sides, blue and yellow, with 5 names each. The side shown is the colour of the square where the pawn stands.
A card is never repeated in the same game.
5. Guessing, GO and moving
- A teammate says the right name on the call.
- The narrator taps that word on the card: it is crossed out.
- The GO button appears. The narrator or any teammate taps it and the pawn moves one square.
- The same card flips to the colour of the new square. Words already said stay crossed out when the card comes back to that side.
- Repeat until the 30 seconds run out. If time ends with a correct word marked but no GO yet, the move still counts.
6. Risk squares
Squares 6, 12, 18 and 30 are marked with ↔. If the team is on one of them and time runs out without a single correct word on that square, the pawn moves back one square. If they get a word and move on, there is no penalty. Everyone can see these squares on the board.
7. Faults and undo
- Fault : only the opposing teams can call it (they hear the narrator on the call and see the card). The turn ends at once and the pawn of the team that was playing moves back one square (never below START).
- Undo : if a correct word or a GO was a mistake, the opponents (and the host) can undo the last step. The pawn goes back, the card returns to the previous side and the word is free again. The narrator and their team cannot undo.
- The host can also correct a team's position by ±1 square in Settings.
8. How scoring works
During the game
- Each word marked by the narrator is worth +1 point for the team. The scoreboard at the top shows the points and the square of every team.
- Undoing a correct word takes that point back.
- A Fault and the risk squares move the pawn back but do not remove points.
- The winner is decided by position (reaching the FINISH), not by points. Points show who got the most words right.
On your profile
- When a game ends with a team reaching the FINISH, each player adds their team's points to their profile, +1 game and, if the team won, +1 win.
- Games the host restarts midway with “New game” do not count towards your profile.
- If all the other teams leave, the team that stays wins.
- Your history keeps your latest games with the team, points and result.
9. End of the game
The first team to reach the FINISH square wins on the spot. The final screen shows the winning team and each team's points. The host can tap Play again to start another game with the same teams.
Quick tips
- Use a voice call with everyone connected: without sound the game loses its fun.
- Narrator: start with the easiest words to win squares and time.
- Opponents: read the card carefully, because a well-called fault costs the other team a square.
- Install the app on your home screen so you don't reload by accident. See how to install.
